    Hey Guys,

Been searching around for info on front bumper tucks, seen a lot of pictures of finished products but not a lot on how to do it.

Want to have a game plan before i go out and start tearing stuff off my comet!

    Any help is really appreciated!

Collin did his 73 Mav, Jeff did his 74 Mav, I helped Terry1 with his 74 Comet bumper slide, did a 75 Mav of mine but don't know if there is a difference in the 73 Comet. wasn't a big deal and came out great.
post up some pics. of the underside and let us take a look.

A buddy of mine did it on his '73, and said that 1-3/4" is about ideal.
'Might not sound like much, but is definitely noticeable (and tastefully so).
I definitely would not go more than 2 inches.

    73 Bumper Tuck

I have done bumper tucks on both my 73 Maverick and my son's 73 Comet. I took 2 1/2" out of my Maverick and 3" out of the Comet. I think they both look very good and the marker lights are still exposed. You can go a little further on the Comet because the bumper sticks out further because of the different grille. I did notice the second set of mounting holes on the Comet. You might want to try that first to see how it looks.
The Maverick did not have the second set of holes. Then it is simply a matter of trimming the splash pan with tin snips. Hope this all helps.

Yeah, the Comet bumper seems to stick out a lot further than the Maverick.

even the rear marker light stock is very close. the front comes nowhere near that close on the Comet. here is the 75 Mav. I did, front and back are about the same. (3")

On my 77 I just removed the brackets, drilled new holes, and trimmed the rubber filler. It took a couple of hours tops.

I took 2 1/2 inches out of mine. I chose this amount because it still clears the side marker light. It is simply a matter of taking whatever amount you want out of the mounting bracket and then welding it back together. We took 3 inches out of my sons 73 Comet because it is extended out to clear the different grill. Hope this helps.
