Preparing to install PMGR starter, Power Master instructions specify, not connecting jumper wire between main power line to small ign. switch wire on starter. I’m preparing to wire according to instructions even though it requires extra wiring. Pwr Master states going jumper wire may cause starter may not disengage properly w/ this method. Anyone have any experience with jumper method — seen few articles online but not any after installation experience .
Connect battery cable terminal of PMGR starter directly to battery terminal of orig solenoid. Connect PMGR solenoid terminal to starter terminal of orig solenoid You're done. . That's exactly the hookup Ford used in '90s for 5.0. Usually the PMGR solenoid will overload original wiring used to activate fender solenoid.
That will be easy way to do it. You’re saying, connect pm starter to S terminal? Also, reconnect or have OE fender wire connection and pm wires together on same terminal?
Uhhh I don't think so? Connect battery cable for PMGR starter to battery terminal on orig solenoid(double up with batt cable). Connect PMGR solenoid terminal to original solenoid starter cable post. S & I terminals remain as orig, no addition or removal. BTW Power Master is correct, cannot jump PMGR starter solenoid & batt cables together. That includes operating from starter cable post of original solenoid.
The way you have outlined is what Powermaster specifies. Best follow mfg's instructions since they have done the research. Thanks!
Got started moving some wires around to get the starter installed; had to get little creative with so many wires on fender mounted solenoid/relay stud.. Have not heard car in about 6 months, hopefully back up running soon.
