    Hey
We’ve got some other classics in the stable (‘49 F-4, ‘73 Gran Torino sport roof, ‘72 VW bug, ‘73 F-600), and have gone to a bunch of car shows now. And the wifey decided her dream car is a 2 dr. Maverick. She wanted a ‘mini’ Torino, so we can eventually do some power tours together.
Found one in MO, we were gonna go try to buy, but another popped up in OK on a last minute search for a better example. We ended up with the one from OK, and what a car it is!

1 owner family, always been garaged, aunt bought it new in ‘76. Has the LD Option, with WORKING AC (converted to 134A)! 250-6/C4/8” car. This thing still Has the air pump hooked up and operating! I’ve seen a lot of air pumps, but never one that was in working order or present for that matter. The interior looks almost brand new. Only rust is driver rear floor board which is starting to get bad, a half dollar missing rust through spot at the rear bottom wheel well, and a dime size surface rust spot atop the passenger fender. Obviously there’s a small laundry list of maintenance items to tackle, but it’s a really nice car. Probably the nicest used car I’ve ever bought for sure. Usually they need just about a full redo by the time I can afford them.
Future plans are to leave it alone for a while. We’d like to add a early grabber hood with the scoops some day, and maybe do som paint accenting.

We drove it home (300 miles), with some sketch brakes, and got 20 mpg’s out of it. I thought that was pretty respectable for needing a carb rebuild and a good time up!

The cloth interior is not original (the cloth part), but looks nicely done and is way more comfortable to sit on than the vinyl.

Interesting..looks like you’re correct. Can’t find any pics online with the same pattern

Would the vinyl top have been a darker originally? And would the dash have been covered/stitched with the LDO?

The dash pad would have been molded, yours was covered (very nicely) by an upholstery shop.

nice find, original cars are passing forward the mechanicals , fed mandates and style cues of the era.

I like the 'Halo" top and Big Bumpers as signature features of the day .

the anvil like 250 delivers modest performance and is easily upgraded with modern ignition, fuel systems, and more. Drivability vs originality is always in mind and nothing wrong with using what's working.

    hav e fun

looks like my '74, not many seen at typical cruises and shows, yoots' ask me if it's a Firebird? fairly often...
