ive just inherited a 1976 maverick and its got its flaws it will start up and drive but it definitely needs a tune new springs an alignment and other sorts of things in those areas given its sat for years and years but i want to make it nice again and i started by gutting what was left of the interior given it has different seats now and missing some interior pieces. i see this as a full project car as i’ve already done alot of work to it but it still needs loads to go i guess im here for some guidance aswell as maybe someone can give me a few tips or share where they’ve gotten some parts i may be needing or if anyone has anything like that for sale. give me your thoughts please

There are lots of parts out there - just takes some work to find them. The classifieds here can help - post in the "wanted" section once you have a list of what you need.

The worst enemy of these cars is rust. Everything else can be replaced easily with some basic skills and a decent set of tools.

Post pictures of your car - we love pictures here and it really helps to understand your needs.

for everyone asking for photos ill add more once i get the chance to take some more decent ones but heres a start i took the hood off to prep for paint and heres the before photo

also im not too sure if i wanna do the stripes again because im thinking of going a nice deep metallic purple so its different but i also like the idea of a lighter color with the stripes it looks classic to me

i think to really complete the car in full all i really need are the metal pieces that hold up the headliner and headliner itself maybe a couple emblems and chrome trim aswell as im missing the latching mechanism for the rear passenger window thing

The Maverick's "Power Dome" hood has some unique lines to it that looks good with the Grabber style paint or decals, but doesn't work well with the straight stripes like on a Mustang. The stripes on your car were added by someone - it is not factory in style.

All the parts you list are easy to find.

i agree the stripes that are on the car currently are ugly and dont run well with the lines of the car atall

i have most of everything to put it back together on the inside minus the carpets and the headliner rods and window latch for everything to be completed inside and i think i may need suspension parts aswell
