Duraspark ignition module

    I got the harness, distributor, and ignition module from a 75 and grafted it into a 72. The ignition module is mounted in the 72 where Ford placed it in the 75, driver's side front apron close to the radiator support. These non-oem modules last a couple of years before dying.

    On non factory installs, has anyone mounted it in the passenger compartment? I was thinking of adding/grafting in the 2 module connectors to the driver's side right above the kick panel, and leaving the other connectors where they are. My thinking was I could drive around with 2 modules, but only 1 plugged in at a time, or just use the interior mounted module full time. As I am somewhat electrically challenged, does anyone see a problem with this?

    That'd work. Maybe consider a method of cooling?

    Wanna get real fancy? Mount a cooling fan.

    Back in day the Motorcraft boxes were generally good for six/eight years. I doubt the new ones are as reliable.

    Up to a few years ago the NASCAR boys ran two MSD boxes mounted on dash, included a selector switch to change boxes in case of failure. Running 8500+RPM for hours was rough on the boxes(1133 sparks per second).

    I'm still running my Duraspark that I installed in 1993. It's a Wells unit, not factory FoMoCo...

    I got my car July 2009 and was still working last year when I replaced it; don’t know how long it was in service before I bought the car!
