I'm having an issue with cranking from ign. key. Car will crank jumping batt. to solenoid. I replace ign. switch about 10 years ago and recently replaced neutral safe switch. Not saying the switch isn't the problem, but, wondering if fuseable link plays a part in cranking process? I replaced nss cuz I knew it was defective, car only start park and no bu lights. Any suggestions appreciated, car been idle for too long.

Fuselink has nothing to do with cranking.

Red/light-blue wire feeds from ign sw(hot when cranking) through firewall connector. From there travels down to neutral safety switch(trans mounted), from NS it travels to S post on solenoid. That's all of crank circuit.

Some years/models have neutral safety switch mounted at base of column.

A test light will confirm continuity. Is there voltage on red/lt blue wire when cranking? Measure near near middle of circuit, a good location will be at point it exits from fire wall into engine compartment. If that's good, problem is with neutral safety or engine bay harness. If dead problem is with ign switch or maybe firewall connector.

Finally had time with and favorable weather to work in garage, had help from my son who 30 years was a Mercedes Benz mechanic. We tested circuits with test light and VOM meter. I’m almost embarrassed to tell I had reversed start signal wire with ignition/run wire after replacing NS switch & solenoid. Some of the faded 50 year old wires hard to distinguish color/tracers. Anyway, hopefully, get back on road since last October.
Thanks for your assistance Tom — wanted to acknowledge my appreciation!
