I'm considering swapping a factory ac unit. Does anyone have a resource for choosing a TXV to more closely match R134a properties ? They have a superheat and tonnage rating.

What’s your concern with the one they sell for 134A?

This is the style I need, but it doesn't specify what the power head is charged with. I would think it is r134a on anything manufactured now. They aren't really adjustable. It may not matter.

They say they are matched to the factory specs of the R12 valve. I have one, but I don’t have my A/C together yet. I was trying to find the specs of the factory york style compressor, to see what it was, but I haven’t found anything. I’m planning on using a Sanden 709 on my car, with a fox body condenser. I’ve got a parts list a mile long, I just need to add my credit card info. I’d think 1.5 tons should be enough, hopefully

I think the de-icing switch adjustment might also yield better performance as well. Evidently the expansion valve isn't critical. This stock photo states r134 on the part

Expansion valve. Readily available aftermarket. I would not trust Rock Auto on this. Contact an aftermarket AC company like Classic Auto Air for parts.

Curious as to why you want to get rid of the factory unit?
I scrounged a factory AC from the junk yard years ago and retrofitted it into my non-ac car. When I upgraded to a stroked 5.0, I used the serpentine system with the Sanden compressor and all the original Maverick pieces. Using R134. I have no issues with this set up.

I want to use a factory ac from donor car. I'm using sanden compressor and parallel flow condensor. I just want to optimize the performance with r134a
