    Hello All,

Attached is a picture of the fuse box on my 1971 Mercury Comet. Would any of these fuses be linked to the ignition? Meaning if they were bad the engine would not turn over.............

Made a rookie mistake the other day. Was putting a new wire on the electric fan when it got away from me and touched the negative post on the battery. The positive terminal cord was still attached to the battery. Needless to say there was a lot of spark and the ring terminal on the wire melted and the batter terminal melted some. After that the car will not start. It will not even turn over. I thought I heard a pop when this happened and was hoping it was as simple as a blown fuse. But not sure which one or any would control ignition.

    Thanks for the help!

It's original. But everything else works. Lights, wipers, idiot lights in dash etc......Just after that event it wont turn over.

No fuses for ignition. There's a fuse link in harness that supplies voltage from alt to battery.

Check the connections at the starter, and at the starter relay on the fender apron..

I also think that box is toast; I’d be concerned about electrical problems I the future. No way, not going to be issues with condition of that box.

Yeah, I don't know if it's just an illusion from the pic, but it looks like something caught fire under there at one time...
