Mark, I owe you a case of beer. The link worked for me and illuminated ( ‘lectric pun) my problems. For anyone who stumbles across this message in the hunt for schematics or sport lights, the relay for sure is in the kick panel. It’s a three pin relay, grounded through the body on a 7/16 bolt. Sits down in the body and if you’re not looking for it, it would be hard to notice. However the sport light relay is “supposed” to have a toggle switch to activate. On my ‘71 grabber there is a male/female 2 pin connector under the dash. It is right of the steering column behind the ash tray, hang a 2 pole switch and you can power the relay signal when you have your light switch in any position except off. My main concern was the turn signal indicator was on in the dash. Had read many people say that the bulbs were bad. If schematics are not a persons strong suit then this may shed some light on the situation. If one of the turn signal bulbs on the front of the car is burnt out (or in my case missing) the marker lights will ground through the indicator bulbs in the dash causing them to illuminate. Normally all the side marker lights ground through the non working filament on their respective front turn signal bulb. Once you turn on an indicator, that wire (either white/blue or green/yellow) will get 12v to operate the turn signal bulb, thereby giving the marker lights on that side power on both terminals and no ground, causing them to go out/ flash alternatively to your front and rear turns. I ended up pulling all my marker lights out until I can find some turn signal housings to fit the car just to keep the dash lights off for now. Hopefully that is all a little more clear than mud. appreciated!!!!
so does the schematic for these lights not exist? and where do you get this relay? mine is nonexistent.
You can use the '70 Mach I wiring diagram to figure out how to wire the Sport Lamps. The Gray wire from the switch feeds to the right light bulb and Green/Yellow wire feeds to the left light bulbs. The bulb grounds are grounded at the radiator support. The Black wire gets hot from the light switch. You can use a standard 12v relay mounted anywhere
thanks. that says sport light switch which I assume was just grabbed from the mach 1? does the primary light switch power those on the maverick? also if this is the connector behind the drivers side kick panel area those prongs are closer together than standard relays. I'm having trouble with that
Don't know where the toggle switch on a Grabber gets the power. The non-Grabber harness doesn't have a Black wire going to the light switch but the connector at the main switch will accept another wire to connect to the switch like it does on the Mach I. I assume the Grabber and Mach I are/were the same. You can make short jumper wires with the correct male/female connectors to connect harness to relay
Thank you. No results for that on ebay, rockauto, autokrafters, and I called Melvin's yesterday and they know nothing about it.
NOS parts is the only one without a website. I guess i can de-pin and adapt a new connector from somewhere. Nothing special about it I assume.
Usually switched power and ground to coil. Also supply voltage for lights and the feed out. Look up Bosch relay terminals 30, 85, 86, 87. There's info/diagrams all over the net, are the std of world. I've used them for electric choke, headlights etc. I'll make it easy.... https://mgispeedware.com/guides-documentation/what-is-a-bosch-relay/
