Yup....the only downside is I feel like I have to be super cautious when handling or installing it, don't DARE scratch it!

Here it is installed. Even without the body pieces, it already looks better! new bump.jpg

As of now only the rear bracket bolts are installed, in the existing frame holes that are said to be, and appear to be, in the right place. The rest of the bracket on both sides is just resting on the frame lip. In pic, rear bolt is to the far right.

To figure where the front holes must be drilled, I will use rthomas771's template, plus measure proper bumper position 10-12 times, then drill once!

HELP NEEDED: can anybody share pics of 70-72 stone guard/deflector fastening hardware and locations?

I bought an OEM stone deflector from the same guy who sold me the car; I figure if I install it, it will help me get the bumper aligned exactly right before drilling the front bracket holes.

Do you have the early style latch support for the bumper swap?

Mine is like the one on the left in your pic; looks like the fender nut location is about the same as the one on the right, and in the exploded diagram...will it work? Guess I'll try and find out. 20241222_205206.jpg

Question: do you know what item 383333-S is? Google can't find it. It appears to fasten or isolate the stone guard to/from the grill, one on each side, but I can't really tell from the diagram.

The other fasteners look like pretty standard body bolts and speed or "fender" nuts.

Question: do you think anybody would want any part of the '74 big bumper? Or is it all probably just scrap metal?

IIRC the stone guard bolts to the fender beneath the headlight. The bolt is show as 57472-s in the diagram. You will have to notch the fenders (like the early fenders) or notch the stone guard to fit the late fenders.

383333-S is a grommet that fits into the stone gaurd. The grill has a finger/peg molded to the bottom that fits into the grommet. You will probably never be able to find that part.

I would recommend a rubber grommet that fits the guard with a large enough hole for the grill to drop into.
