I am starting from a bare frame rail for my 1970 Grabber. It is getting a 302/auto. I need a complete suspension setup. Like everything. We have the spindles from a 76 Mav with discs but don’t have to go that route necessarily. When I’m ordering my parts, is there a better year to order? I’ve been searching 1971 just because of the 302 availability but were there upgrades over the years that I can still swap to my 1970 frame? Thanks!
The lower ball joints I think had 4 rivets in '70, and 3 rivets from '71-77. Everything else is the same. Definitely go with the '76 spindles and disc brakes. Go with roller spring perches while you're at it. You'll want the '76 tie rod ends (or '74-'75 with disc brake option) as the studs that go into the spindle are the proper length...
Since you have nothing other than spindles I would recommend you look at the vendors below for upper & lower arms, strut rods, coil springs. Some of the upper arms can be purchased with a 1 inch drop built into the cross shaft saving you from drilling for the Arning drop. Addco makes the 7/8" front anti-sway bar for the Maverick. The factory manual disc brakes work well, no need for power assist. If you need additional brake/steering components http://www.chockostangclassicmustang.com/ is very helpful. https://www.globalwest.net/ https://opentrackerracing.com/ https://streetortrack.com/
I have had OpenTracker Racing's front suspension on my car since 2017. It's a very nice complete kit and works well with my factory springs that I had previously removed one coil. Bruce
Sa Sadly, Moog parts ain't what they used to be. I recently bought some new lower control arms from Opentracker Racing...
