I met my wife when I had my Comet. She knows it's my passion. She's as excited as me at car shows. Likes all the responses we get about the car. Yes, I do check on it everyday, when I get home. I also have 3 more Comets & 2 Mavericks....Go figure!

I haven't made a deal with the devil. I pay as much attention to the Mavs in driveway as I do my other vehicles. I haven't had one for 10 years and I've been able to buy maverick parts and groceries.:16suspect

However, I've wanted one since 1973. I own six Mavericks and invested close to $10,000 for all my Mavericks and the parts I'm storing. I've acquired all my Mav stuff since November 2003 and I have 15 trader rating (putting me in the top 10) on this forum's rating system. Where does that place me in the scheme of Maverickdom?

    Definately a Maverick Lifer.

My pops bought the car when he first moved out to L.A. from El Paso Texas in 1972. My parents brought me home in the mav when I was born in 1974. My maverick has been the love of my life to this day. My father handed it down to me when I turned 18, it took me through 5 years of college.

I've been registered here at this site for a while, but last Saturday was the official send off for my mav. I'm gettin' it restored! Separation anxiety excluded, i'm so excited! I'll be posting more here as I'm sure I’ll be needing help as I get all of the stuff done.

Here are the pics of my mav now: http://www.flickr.com/photos/izelmorena/

well, i guess i just don't fit in. i've had my mavericks less than 10 years, never missed a meal for any reason, never made a deal with the devil, and don't check on my mavericks every day. however i do have 4 of them and have over $15,000 in them. most in the race car. i'm going to go and have a good cry now. oh yeah, and i'm going to drive over 3500 miles in july just to be with all the other crazy maverickers and cometeers in kentucky. does that qualify to at least be an honorary mavericker?:slap: :)

without Comet now just keeping in touch
I'm pretty close to the 10 year thing "8" and I live in the country so stealing it is not a concern, how about, adding "hitting this website everyday I am at work just to seee whats going on", or putting every extra dime in the car.

Can anyone name this line from a song and the artist/group

".. told my girl I had to forget her, rather buy me a new carburetter.. So she made tracks saying this is the end now.. Cars don't talk back their jsut four wheel freinds now...."

Anyway can't help having that song come to mind when I take the Comet for Spin..

I'm Tried and True Oval Blue, Love my Comet Traded the Chevy, I am a Mercury Cometeer and Ford Focused.

I've had my Mav 29 years this Aug. Have let a few things "wait" in order to buy parts a few times. Often told my son (will turn 28 tomorrow) " The car was here before you and you know which one will be gone first, and it ain't gonna be the car":yup:

I met my wife at the drag strip. I had the only Maverick there and they shure do attract a croud. Got my first one in 1983 and have had one ever sence. I taught my wife to race in my Maverick and she raced untill she was about 6 months pregnant and started to show real bad and could not get the 5 point harness to fit right. The best thing about that was the very first race she drove the car in she raced against one of my friends in a 76 Trans Am and just stomped his a$$. I was so proud!!!!!! All I had to say to my friend was "HA You got beat by a girl in a Mavrick". I have owned 16 from the first and have finaly found my 69 1/2. Took me 23 years but I have one now. I have always put my wife and childeren first so I can not say that I have bought parts before food. But as for the other 3 I guess I fit.

So I guess that makes me and my wife fit into this little nook in life.
