Maybe it's the copper piping for the air horn! :rofl2:

Now that is a rare one indeed - as my owners manual lists an optional air horn. Anyone ever see one?

Yea the piping runs all the way from the heater core under the dash along the floors to the trunk area to a small heater core beside the fan under the parcel shelf. This is a canadian car i don't know maybee an aftermarket piece?

Those little plastic things around door locks are rare cause they break. I have one on my passenger side lock that is broke and the one on the driver side of the car is missing.

Kind of rare, but not to much. They was dealer installed or factory installed. The difference was the factory installed has the switch already in the climate control panel.
As far as yours having copper piping and a little radiator. I would bet that someone done that on there own from their brain storming. The Defogger was just meant to Defog, not Defrost. So I bet someone wanted to Defrost their window in Canada and at the sametime, get a little heat in the rear of the car.
I say replace the door lock plastic pieces should be replaced with the stainless metal ones. Look better and are not going to break. Plus they was on my Grabber already that way. Did GrabberJoe tell me that they changed to them that year because of the sun damage and breaking them?

    my piece

I guess the rarest thing thats oem on my 70 grabber is the Grille Ornament.
And the rear window shelf is still uncut for where the speakers go.

My Mom bought her 70 Maverick new in early 1970, and I don't think she got one of those. Think that might have been a regional thing, or a particular dealer's promotional gimmick?

Then again, maybe she did get one. I was all of 8 at the time.

She has a hard time remembering what she had for breakfast, but I'll ask her about the "personalized leather" anyway.

You had to ORDER the car in order to get the leather name tag. It was mounted where the MAVERICK name is on the passenger side of the dash. Ford also did a similar thing with other cars, like T-Birds, etc.

I don't know how rare it is but does anybody else have a glove box door for a 71 Maverick? I'm talking about a car with a tray. This appears to possibly be a dealer installed item but it has a key lock and all. I'm sure there are others out there but this is the only one I have ever seen. Then again, I may have seen one over the years and just didn't pay any attention to it.
Here's a pic I posted on another thread (post#40) if you wanna see what I'm talking about:

Well, my mom did order her car, but she ordered a totally stripped-down model, manual brakes and steering, no AC, no radio, not even an ashtray or cig lighter,.... so that in itself might have negated the leather name thingy. I know if they asked my mom if she wanted it, she probably would have said no.

I do remember my brother's college roommate buying a brand new 70 Mach-1, and he got a gold "running horse" Mustang emblem with his name, date, and the car's details engraved on a plate attached to it. He mounted it on his console, sort of like the Vette ID plates. Was really cool. I think that was that dealer's own gimmick though, I'd never heard of or seen one since.

BTW, I think I may have scored one of those engine mount Z-bar pivot balls! (y)

I've seen pictures of one other like this. I think it was on a junker on Ebay several years ago. Does it have dealer installed or aftermarket A/C?
