hey everyone,i have some 15"alum.slot mags i want to put on the rear of my mav(8" 28 spline if that helps).how do you tell the width of the rim?from outside edge to outside edge,or inside to inside(where the bead would sit?)when i put the rim on by itself that leaves me with about 1" between the rim and the leaf spring. my backspacing on this rim is 4".also what tire size would be good for this setup?i want to go with a fairly smaller tire,i don't want the pickup truck tire look.oh 14"tires are going on the front.any suggestions and or advice or pictures of this combo is greatly appreciated.thank you and drive safe chuck.
My rears are 255/60r15 on 15 x 8 Magnums that I believe have 4-1/4 backspacing. I run a 3/8ths spacers for wiggle room around the leaf.
measurements on wheels i know how to do it but gotta think to much to explain it. i'll let someone else do that. anyways 4 inch back space will work.. you can go as big as 255/60 ish with them. anything wider or backspaced you might have to go with a spacer...as Max Power said... but personally i woundn't run a spacer... unsafe. As for fronts you can go as wide 245 but no one makes the right height tire for a 14, so you won't be able to fit it. As for the 14 incher you can fit up to a 225/60. Pleanty of companies make that size.
max power and maverick man, thank you for the photo and the input.(max power that is one beautiful ride)i measured my rims today and came up with some measurements.on the 15"alumn.slot it measures 8 and a half inches inside bead to inside bead, and 9 and a half inches outside edge to outside edge, with 4" backspacing.the front alumn.slot i will be using are 14".inside bead to inside bead measure 7" and outside edge to outside edge measure 8",with 3" backspacing. anyone running the 14"15"combo?what tire size and did you have to use spacers?also what is the proper way to measure the rims?inside to inside,or outside to outside?thanks for looking and any input, advice or photos is greatly appreciated.drive safe chuck.
Yep, original paint and vinyl. Bought it on ebay two years ago with 31,000 actual for $3000. The guy selling it was the son of the original owner and was selling as part of the estate. His dad bought it new in 77, put 26,000 miles on it by 1986 when he died. They kept it in the family for his mother to drive it, but she was afraid of the V-8. It was a garage kept car in San Jose, Ca. It also has PS, PB and Air, with a blue and white plaid cloth insert interior on the buckets. I've done quite a few engine mods, as this was a California car with a variable venturi carb (eek!), and the wheels and tires, of course. It had wire wheelcovers from the factory. Inline6, I think you have an 8-1/2 rim there. It's measured where the bead of the tire goes.
inline6 here check out my one of my pages.. has what i've tried before and what fits. Wheel and Tires Sizes hope that helps
I'm running 275/60/15's on the rear, on a 15x8 wheels with 4" back spacing, no spacers. I have helper springs on the rear. If I wasn't using the helpers I feel the rear tires would rub. on the fenders. I will see how well they work with new springs (someday). Russ
