Yea, I also like the sound of a two door Station Maverick. I've always had a place in my heart for wagons. It all started from the first time I snuck out the Vista Cruiser. I hated it back in the day when I had to drive Mom's car on dates. Didn't take too long though before I was flipping the air breather upside down and really burning some gas. Those were the days...
The wagon was a '69. Had a rocket 400 that rocked. The distributer was tweeked so Mom could run regular gas. Turbo 400 would get a second gear scratch. The car eventually got tired while the motor remained strong. A friend bought it for the motor to be put in his sisters car. I warned him his sisters car would soon outrun his. It was a fact. He was happy but for me it was the last I saw of the wagon.
64 Country Sedan Here`s my old Girl . 42000 miles and still going strong - 352 4V auto, air , power brakes. I grew up riding in these old Wagons. Back then it was Cool for a family to own one. Sort of the SUV of it`s day. Now my wife calls it a BUV ( Big Ugly Vehicle ) .... no respect .
this ant my pic but i found it on google. I found it to be interesting. I hope this dude doesn’t mind me sharing his pic….but yea they do exist.
Maverick SW - grey Hi friends, The grey one is mine..if I can help you in something else, please let me know. Justa to help you in some information: only 200 made in Brasil during 1978 and 1979, it´s really rare nowadays.......I know another 10, most in terrible conditions. The roof is from another brasilian car and the back door is made in fiberglass. At the moment, there is one for sale: US$ 12.000 and many things to do. The car is running with 4 cyl engine but need some work. Any other information, please tell me ok ? Paul Gregson Brasil www.fordmaverick.com.br
thanks for the info paul wow. $12,000 for a car that needs a lot of work. are maverick prices really that high in brazil or just the wagons?
Prices Hi Don, The prices here are absolutelly in a cray position. I´ll give some examples: An original Maverick costs around US$ 25.000 An Maverick without tyres, engine, windows...etc.....around US$ 3.000 Paul
production Don, Brasil produced only 108.106 mavs, so we don not have a lot of them in good conditions...in the other hand, many people want to, so the prices are always very high....I´m lucky, cause if I was starting from nothing, it will be imposible for me to have this collection.
So how about a 2 door Maverick Vista?? Hey, if you are going to dream big, GO BIG! Got to love them Vistas, I, too, love them! I have even seen the Vista roof on a couple of Buick wagons. And, yes I like Buicks too! Parting out my old hotrod 70 Riv right now. Something about 510 pound feet of torque at the bottom dragging rpm of 2800 that will just about snap you neck that gets me every time! rk
-Those wagons were custom made by a ford dealer called Souza Ramos in Sao Paulo Brazil, released in 1976 runned production until 1979 when it was discontinued along with the maverick down there. -The top was stamped steel and the back gate was fiberglass, very high quality manufacturing but outrageously expensive by american standards at the time, those cars runned about U$ 10.000,wich was more money than any american station wagon of the period, but things are expensive in Brazil.
Completeing information... Mav SW was produced between 1978 and 1979....some Mavs were transformed brand new (1978 and 1979) and most of them were transformed as used cars, like mine (1976). At the moment, there are 3 Mav SW for sale in Brasil, starting in US$ 6.000 for a 4 cyl need 50% work. The other 2 are expensive then this, and only one (4 cyl too) needs 30% work and the price is around13.000 . See you all. Paul
the maverick wagon in brazil was made with the Chevy Caravan (Opala wagon) top. obs:Opala: Mixture of a Opel Rekod body and a impala engine.
