Guys, help me out. I want to reupholster my front buckets. These Grabber seats look just like Mach1 seats. I have seen covers somewhere that claimed to fit '70 Mach1 / '70-'77 Grabber. I called Mustangs Unlimited, a guy in the tech dept said he knows they are not the same, 'cause he has a Comet and the frame is different even though the seats look similar. Any advice or direction would be appreciated.

Mustangs Unlimited sells a Mach1 sport seat upholstery/foam conversion that "fits over the original seat frame to give the seat more aggressive side bolsters on both the top & bottom portions of the seat." That would be sweet.:yup:...... But owning Mach1 sport seat upholstery/foam that doesn't fit on grabber seats; Not so Much!:banghead:

71/72/73 Mustangs and 71/72 Mavericks used the same HIGH-BACK buckets seats. Mustang upholstry for these years will fit fine ... but won't be the original Maverick style or stitching ...

Ok, so ordering those "sport seat" covers/padding should work, can anyone tell me what the numbers on the tag under the seat mean? (or who would know?) I think it was:

I haven't currently been able to. But I want to try the Mustang foam and upholstery on 73/74 Mav/Com High backs because it may fit fine.

So do you believe I have seats that came out of a mustang, or is it possible that the Grabber high back seats were designed for the mustang line and later used in Mavericks, and these Mustang engineered seats are original to my car? I am not really sure what you are asking, but I would be interested to know if the numbers on the metal tag attached to the bottom of your seat has the "Z = Engineered for the Mustang line" on it. Check it out and post the numbers. If it has the Z also, I would bet the mustang upholstery would fit all of the maverick/comet high backs.
    Do it!

Guys ... the buns are the same for 71/72 Mavericks and 71/73 Mustang High-Backs. The 73/74 Maverick Highbacks use different buns and upholstery. I am not sure whether the frames on the 73/74 are the same or not ... I would assume they are the same.

If you are happy with non-stock upholstery for you 71/72 buckets ... just buy Mustang upholstery ... the buckets will fit perfect ... the backs are obviously different and will need tweeking. If you want stock looking 71/72 Buckets ... you will need to have them custom made.

You will also need to have the 73/74 style Maverick upholstery custom made as well.

The Upholstery on my buckets dosen't look like anything you guys have posted so far. Is it non factory or what? No Comfort Weave on my seats, just vinyl. They need to be reupholstered, but I want them to look exactly like they do now, just new vinyl.
