Jamie... your seats are definitely 1972 original ... no comfortweave in 1972 ...

What you have found there in your link is something new that allows you to use the original '69-'73 Mustang high back seat frames with foam padding that give more side bolstering. With '69/'70 Mach I upholstery they will be somewhat similar to the '03ish Mach I seats-more comfy.

Original seat buns and upholstery are available for Mustangs as others stated.

I have a set of '69/'70 Mach I upholstery for the Maverick. I would
be curious to know (Blown?) if you had enough material for the back
seat with the kit. Mine came with fold down rear seat upholstery. It doesn't look as if it will be enough for the Maverick rear seat.

Need to find out if the frames are the same. Hopefully someone can give us a deffinite answer. If they did turn out to be the same, then 73/74 Highbacks would look exactly the same as 71/72 Highbacks with Mustang foam and upholstery correct? Because the pair I have came out of a 73 Grabber the foam and upholstery are both shot.

Yep, thats the same rear seat thats in my car. Thanks for posting those pictures. The front seats that came with my car didnt look like yours. Yours look like the correct matching pattern with that back seat. Good luck getting them reupholstered exactly that way, as its been pretty much established that no one makes that style cover. I guess i will work with the 70 mach1 style. The horizontal ribs look the right size, do you guys think they look good with that back seat or do you think I would need to reupholster the rear seat to match using the full kit? It would be a shame to reupholster a perfect back seat though...

Any upholstery shop can reproduce the original style covers ... expect to pay about about $600 for them to do it ...

My upholsterer was able to reproduce the Comfortweave covers for my car ... and all I had was a picture of them out of the sales brochure ...

Dan is right. Mine were $500, but '73-'74 style. Only 1 material-smooth vinyl-no comfortweave.

I stripped a 74 Bucket seat, the frame is sitting on the floor of my garage, I can post a picture. As far as I can tell, the bottom is the same as a 71-72 but the back has the springs in the foam, I pulled it out, but have no way to compare it.

    Ok, This is depressing.

The 70 Mach1 seat are not as close as I hoped. They have "comfort weave". I dont know about having "comfort weave" inserts in the front seats and plain vinyl in the back. The Grabber seats also flair out at the head, The Mach1 seats look straight. And its probably just the picture, but my Grabber seat backs look thinner too. So I can buy the full set and have the back seat done with the Mach1 material, or have the fronts custom made, or just buy a nice set of aftermarket seats like these Corbeau Sport seats that list for $278.00 each. Again, I still cant even be sure the mustang covers will fit. Please post some opinions!

And I have attached a picture of a suitable aftermarket seat made by Corbaeu Sport:

I can get it done for free... :D My grandparents did upholstery for over 35 years and made the entire interior that was in my dad's Comet.

Just bring one of your seats to an upholstery shop and ask them how much to reproduce the factory upholstery ... you'll probably want to install new buns while your at it so include that in the total price.... They should be able to match the grain ... that way if your rear seats are nice you don't have to redo them.

Or use 71-73 Mustang standard seat covers, their alot closer than 70's.

The 73 buckets look just like Pinto/Mustang 2 buckets.
I don't know if that helps...
Does anyone repop M2 interiors yet?

Also, be careful about spending money on 69-70 seat covers.
FYI, I believe the frames are unique to those 2 years and the 71-3 frames are different. The latter ones match our seat frames to 72, but the tracks are different.
It would be a b!tch to spend all that dough on the 69-70 covers and then they don't fit. The seat backs are very thick on those seats compared to ours.

    Brian,
I am currently reupholstering a set exactly like yours. I plan to keep a pattern for them so I can make more. Once I finish them I will post a photo. I will probably not be installing them since the seats are in Canada. The 71-73 Mustang seat foams are the same as the 71-72 Grabber foams. When I had the Grabber seats here I also had a 72 Mustang seat apart. I compared the foam and could not find any differences.

    Wow.
While it's pretty cool to have factory looking seats in your car, a couple of holes and a few hours of fabrication can take your interior right up to date with lats of side bolstering and all.
I can't see spending a bunch of dough making my seats the same as they were born when there are much better alternatives out there.
