I am probaly going to get a 1972 Maverick and the bumpers have been painted and I was wondering what it would cost to have them rechromed

Rechroming is expensive, sometimes $250 per bumper. You can either have your bumpers custom rechromed (you get your same bumpers back) or you trade your old bumpers for ones already chromed. The second method is less desirable because you don't always get back the same quality you give up.

In my opinion, rechroming is a rip off. Quality is hit or miss depending on who you use and I think it's entirely too expensive for what you get. I painted mine and I love them that way.

Doesn't really matter how much it costs...either you want them rechromed, or you don't. If you do, it could cost $1000 each and you would figure out a way to do it.

My bumpers are crap. Purchased them with the idea that they would save me $200 on rechromed and straightened bumpers in the core alone. (paid $100 for both bumpers, valences, and entire rear spoiler assembly, so I think I got a decent deal!)

Crap or no, they look better than the stock BIG bumpers I had on there.

AND, if it DOES cost $1000 each to get them done when my time comes, I will just smile and fork the cash over, and say "thank you, sir" when they are completed:yup:

Autokrafters here in virginia has the rechroming service for around 250 i believe. also they have the exchange program where you give up yours and its 300 or something for each bumper.

You just need to shop it. I found a place that both straightened them and replated them(Front & back & bumperettes). Cost was right at $300. They do look good when their done.

Power coated chrome is alright but when you put it against anything that is chrome plated it looks cheap that is my opion. I had looked at doing that on my bumpers and opted for the chrome from Tri City Plating that was the best thing I did 169.00 ea w/ a lifetime warrenty

Tri City Plating has my vote too. Just had a set done and it cost $200/each, but they are perfect. I will definitely have future sets done by them. The best way seems to be to find them at a local show so that you can drop your cores off to them and save at least a little money in shipping.

I highly recomend TRI-CITIES PLATING. They did the rear bumper for my Comet. If you want them back in a hurry it won't happen. But well worth the wait. They are only about 30 minutes from where I work.
