Has anyone tried or heard of puttig suicide doors on a 76 Maverick? I want to do this conversion to one of mine and make the front doors raise at a 90' angle. I have reseached and found WingDoors.com and think they offer the best solution with their Mark II model. What do you guys think? :thumbs2:

the only thing i would suicide would be the back doors of a 4 door, might be able to see the fronts done on a 2 door, thats considering you wanted to go with a lowrider street cruiser theme. i definatly wouldnt go with lambo or gull wings or anything like that. leave that stuff to the tuner crowd.

I have the four doors. I was restoring one and then turnung the other into a hod rod. I want the turner guys to go "DDDAAAMMMMNNN!" That is the crowd out here in San Antonio. I want to put LSD doors in the front, and suicide in the back. Maybe I'll mod both so I ca have 4 LSD's o one, and a combination LSD-suicide on the other and leave the rest pretty much alone. After all there are always more Mavericks out there.

I really want to do suicide doors on one of my mavs. I won't say you can't suicide the front doors on a 4 door but it would be alot of work. The rear doors would also be a real pain because you can't spread the hinges far enogh apart. You could do the wing doors on teh front. Travis(ModMav71) has a nice rendition of what a 2dr would like with the wing doors, preety cool!!

I'd like to see somebody use 2 door doors on a 4 door, doing away with the rears, and making a 2 door Maverick with a 4 door roof. Would make it a more a sedan instead of a fastback, just something different......

I've been thinking about this conversion for probably 10 years or more. It's kind of like the Fairmont 2 door sedans, except the Maverick has much nicer lines. Start with a 4 door car, remove both doors, move the door post rearward about 6 inches, mount a 2-door front door, and build new sheetmetal for the opening behind it. The hardest part would be finding a quarter window that is the right size and making it look right. Sheetmetal is no problem but glass is tough. Also I think the door frame would have to be changed as well due to the roofline differences between the 2 and 4 door bodies. Lots to ponder...

That is a link to wingdoors also, just their suicide kit. Did he get the weld on ones or the bolt on's? Maybe it won't work, maybe it will, I'll risk it to find out. I have many friends that work metal so hopefully i'll be alright.
