Maybe it's been covered but here goes anyway. Q. What do you use to clean the track prep and rubber off your rear quarter? Here's what I used. GOJO hand cleaner, the creamy kind, not the gritty. The track "glue" had setup and was difficult to remove with other cleaners such as bug and tar remover. I guess I tried everything except paint remover. Anyway, I spread a coat of hand cleaner on it, let it sit for a couple of minutes and wiped off. It took three applications to get it all off but it sort off melted the "glue". It took less "elbow grease" than I expected. It may work for you too. Of course the best thing to do is prevent the mess in the first place. Disclaimer: Not responsible for paint damage if it occurs.
I met a guy who says he puts Vaseline on his body before racing. He said it keeps the rubber and the stick-um loose and and easy to wipe off. I don't know how common this is, but I'm sure I'll hear about it if it's a lousy idea. Just for Frank...He puts Vaseline on his quarter panels..
Not a bad idea at all, Terry. I spray a light coat on the rear fender wells and the back of the fender with 10-W40 to prevent it from sticking and also use it to remove it. -Heloise
terry??? i don't see what this "he puts Vaseline on his body before racing. He said it keeps the rubber and the stick-um loose and and easy to wipe off". has to do with the "quarters on a race car" ... ...
I'm sorry Jerry. I'm such a sweet and innocent person that I didn't realize what I was writing could be construed as weird and perverted.
i don't know where this post is going but i've used pam cooking spray on the 1/4's before and it works good.
that's nice...but what do you use on your ...body ...that keeps you in the winners circle ??? ... ...
