The interior is back in the Maverick, and boy is it ever RED! I'm going have to buy myself some new sunglasses. We spent one whole day just rigging up the new stereo and back speakers. The antenna is still laying on the floor because I still need to take the fenders back off and finish painting the undercoating on the insides. The front and rear windshields should go back in sometime Monday. Then it's time for my all time favorite activity........wetsanding. It's such a pain to do, but so worth the effort when the cars are buffed out.
wow, this post should come with a warning label. "warning, pictures could lead to blindness". looks good jean. you really make me ashamed of my lack of progress on my sprint. keep the pictures coming. i may get motivated yet.
Hats off to all your hard work. Can't wait to see the finished product.... it's going to look great! Thanks for the pictures, it's cool to see your progress! Art
Thanks everyone. I have to admit there's no shortage of red with this car. From what I have been able to find out, Ford named the interior color just plain Red. No fancy names, just Red. It's hard to see from the pictures, but the entire dash area and front kick panels are actually a darker shade of red than the rest of the interior. The flash from my camera distorted the colors a bit. The carpet and floormats came free with the car when we bought it. They were both brand new, still in the original boxes. The boxes were printed with Auto Custom Carpets, which is were I think AutoKrafters gets thier carpet sets from. The price of those two items alone cost as much as what we paid for the whole car. This whole interior thing did get me wondering how many Mavericks and Comets were ordered with the Red interiors. I have seen very few with the red interior option, so I imagine it wasn't that common.
Up till now, I thought that the only way you could get "flash burns" was looking at a welder or the sun. Nice job, Jean.
