Put seats from an 84 Toyota Tercel in mine.. one of those "FX-16" ones. They fit... but the left front bolt in the passenger seat isn't in... lol
Just for the record, the "box" of the sub-frames could run right in-line with the passenger's right rear side. Ed (fan24887892610W-40) and I had to do some creative modding to get the back right seat track OUTSIDE the frame box. These were generic racing seats - nothing you'd get from a JY - just giving a heads up that there 'might' be trouble with some swaps. Your mileage may vary.
The Tercel seats need the end of the brackets hammered down until they'll sit level with the floor... Of course you gotta drill new holes as well... When your done.. they will probably be leaning towards each other.. to rectify that, just get some small blocks of wood about 1-2 inches thick under the back ends of the brackets. But the seats themselves are pretty decent, the kinda hug me around my sides and they have a "racy" look lol
Sounds like the installation of my Accord seats. Pound here, drill here, chunk of 2X4 here and here...Feel Great, look Great, I just wanted a sturdier installation.
Just a safety tip: If you make new mounting points for seats in your floor pan, make sure to reinforce that new hole/mounting point so that you don't break free and go bouncing around in your car strapped to a loose seat! If you look at factory mounting points, they are braced, reinforced, the metal is bent for more strength, and often there is a sheet type crossmember involved. Also the mounting hardware is heavy duty, stronger metal, and washers are thick-strong-large. All off this keeps you from becoming a seat mounted projectile in an accident. Weak bolts and/or a simple hole drilled in the floor won't hold the seats safely. Same rules go for seatbelt mounting as well!
I have 1996 talon seats in my mav frount and back. Frount was a bolt in affair the rear is a diffrent story:16suspect but still very do able by most on the board.
my seats came out of an 80's something thunderbird. they fit the floor pan just fine, and they are electric. i am going to take it out because i think its alot of too much weight i will probably put the seat up for sale when i get new seats, because it is very comfortable and electric
Oh jeez, I didn't realize that!! hahahaha Thanks, well I used these higher grade bolts (with the three lines on top of the head) and some fat washers.. Hopefully in the event of a car crash I won't become a lethal weapon to the person I crash into! Thanks for the tip though lol
