I just installed the factory spoiler kit on my Comet. I need to adjust it about an 1/8 of an inch toward the passenger side of the car. How is this done? I asked Grabber71 (Cliff) when he stopped by on Sunday. He had adjusted his 15 years ago, can't remember how. I kinda like the looks of the factory spoiler. But, I also like the Mach 1 spoiler. It doesn't look right until I get it adjusted. Please help......

The heater core started leaking today. Will it ever end? Seems something is always going wrong, just when you think it's finished & time to enjoy....Luckily I have a new one in the work shop, I had bought a year ago, for the yellow 73 Comet GT...Sure is nice having parts tucked away. I just hate tearing the dash apart (not fun).

Seriously....the only way I have found to adjust it:

    1. Raise trunk lid
    2. Get on side of car that has too little of a gap
    3. Push on trunk lid multiple times to "push" it over the other way
    4. Shut trunk lid and inspect. If more adjustment is needed, repeat steps 1 thru 4.

    It works.

You can do some major adjustments with the bolts but, like craig said minor adjustments pushing the sides the same way.

the problem i am having with mine is...if i put any tension on the lift spring it raises the lid on the right side.
with the spring in the lowest slot the lid lays flat :yup: ...just have to hold the lid up to get stuff in and out...

    any suggestions???

Before they closed the Atlanta Ford Plant .. Earl setup a factory tour for us ... this was about 2 years ago. Guess what ... they still used rubber mallets and nylon pry bars to line up trunk lids, doors and hoods ... seriously ...

here's some a couple of pictures that show the difference in the gap on both sides & how much higher the spoiler is on the passenger side....

i lined up those 2 pics and it seems like your dr side 1/4 extension is a little low and the pass side one seem a little high but pushed in slightly to the left too far? it might just be the pics though

have to complement you on a very nice looking comet though, regardless of spoiler fit ;)
