I've been looking around trying to find out what the correct finish for Maverick lower control arms is. I took the time to clean my original ones slowly and have discovered that the ones on my 73 were Black and Natural just like the Mustang ones, the Black only goes about half way up the arm. I'll try and take a picture, but it might not show very well.
I wanted to know any of you guys with original low mile cars, how are yours finished from the factory? I'm sure that if my car hadn't been brought from California and not sat outside in the Canadian weather that they would have survived better.
    Any ideas or Help?

I painted mine black but if you like the unfinished metal look, I like to use Cast Blast. Gives it that nice natural metal look. Plus its very easy to touch up if needed. I used it a lot of it on my Sprint.

I used cast blast on mine as well. Some day, I will find time to take them back off, and spray the ends black as you have found. The cast blast gives them a look of bare gray metal and will prevent rusting.
Some of the Mustang sites talk about using metal coating techniques such as gun bluing to coat bare metal. There are some other dips available from
companies such as Eastwood. Do a Google for that or check out some vintage Mustang forums. There is probably more info there than here in 'just paint the damn thing black' land.
