I have never had an issue painting a grille.
    Ford used semi-flat black.
Paint it in a few coats so it doesn't run.
That is all I have ever done.

    On the interior:
    I have never tried that...
So I came into the thread waiting to hear the responses. ;)

My Sprint's blue dash could use some rehab one day, so I would like to know what works.
I will just be repainting mine though, not really changing colors.

    Good luck
    Dave

    Oh yeah...
Forgot to mention that I know of a good black for the dash.
    It is boat engine paint.
    Mercury Black to be exact.
It is a VERY close match to the factory black paint of the metal portion of the dash.
My uncle used that for the dash itself and covered the pad with textured black vinyl from a local crafts store.
To be fair though, he didn't paint anything plastic. Just the metal parts.
    It looks really good though.

If it is getting bubbly that means the surface is not clean. Wash what ever you are painting with dawn dish wash. Then, I always use a sealer before I paint anything, get a sealer, they sell it in spraybomb. I have never seen anything that looks decent and holds up on seats. I have seen stuff that works for a few days, but once you use it, the wear factor comes to the surface. Also, if you are relying on spraybomb to paint everything, I do know that you have to use very light coats. A buddy of mine did a slendid job of recoloring a set of arm rests. He told me he put 12 coats on them, mist it every coat.

You know, paint that comes in a can with the little button on top that you push down and the paint comes out!!!

It is a term that folks that know how to paint use to rib folks like me who can bearly use a roller:bananaman

Krylon works pretty good on plastics IMO. I started redoing a 72 grabber grill today. I am painting the grill and also the metal cross hair bezels gloss black. I'll post some pictures of it when it is a little closer to being done.

i am working on my dash and am having a problem painting it too. i sanded the surface then primed and painted the top coat. as the topcoat dried it looked like the plastic was pulling the paint into it in places but leaving it in others. very blotchy. i will have to resand it and start over. should i use a paint designed for plastic as the base then paint over it with the finish color?

i found that sanding it with 100 sandpaper then wiping it down with goof off seems to have fixed my problem. just using krylon primer and paint. without the sanding it was bubbleing up pretty bad. there must be a caot of wax or something on the existing paint.

I had great success using a scotch pad and some detergent. Then I dried it, used a tack cloth, sprayed with bulldog adhesive (it's a clear and really sticky primer I guess) and then I sprayed with automotive interior paint. There is a lot of options for the interior paint, I have tried several and all with pretty good success.
