Do these come apart? The clear plastic cover has some deep scratches and I would like to "rebuild" it if possible. As an alternative, someone on here was making some nice stickers for the center of a wheel. Would that be a good fit for here at least until I can find a medallion in better condition?

Also, what are people using to "glue" theirs on? I was considering making this a bolt on through the back as the glue in years past has failed. (that is why it is scratched!) Thanks, Scott

So, do these come apart? Anyone have any luck rubbing scratches from the lexan that covers it?

Drill out the rivets ... it will come apart .. you can then drill and tap and use a screw to put them back together .. thats how a new emblem was put in this one ... I see the replacement inserts on eBay once on a while ... pretty sure the front insert is same as deluxe gas cap insert.

They will come apart by using a dremel or small drill and removing the 4 small "welds" that hold it all together. These are not real welds in the true sense of the word but rather a mushroomed over pin in the zinc casting. once you have it all apart, you can replace or repair any bad pieces. To put it back together, you can use JB Weld or carefully drill in small pilot holes where those "welds" were, and put in a small stainless steel screw - like a #6 in size (that would be a 1/16th pilot hole to drill).

You can also try to polish the plastic without taking it all apart using the Novus 1-2-3 polish series. I have had great success with the Novus products. All in all - it is a lot of work either way to do it.

Hmmm ... I just found this used insert in my goody box ... It's not NOS but probably a 7.5 on a scale of 1 to 10 .... If it's better than yours and you want to buy it ... I can do $20 shipped ...

The center medallion is about 3 inches and with the chrome housing, it is about 3.5 inches
