I am currently painting with Krylon but scratches and nicks still show through. I was wondering about someday upholstering with leather, or at least vinyl, something that would match the seats.

    Pics?

I don't have any. You can send him a PM and ask him if you'd like.

It surely can be done. I have not done any in the maverick, but have in other cars. I used vinyl with contact adheasive on the edges which held up fine in the Chicago summers & winters. They were mostly flat surfaces like door panels and arm rests. To do compound curves would require stitched seams.

I would most likely take it to an upholsterer and make it look professional. I would screw it up and it would be ugly if I did it myself.

Talked to an upholsterer today and they said the do it all the time. I asked about leather and was told that it could be done but they now usually use a "fake leather" that holds up better to the weather, and is about 1/6 the price. Still looks and feels like leather, doesn't look like vinyl.

I might someday have the seats and the panels covered to match. Maybe a two-toned layout:huh:

i have done it with a suede like clothe before on a diffrent car, used the 3m spray adhesive and just smoothed it out as it was drying. Came out fairly good. but it was all one color

I had a friend who used this on the interior of his 3000gt

    http://www.decalfx.com/vinyl_sheets.html

it's been 2 years and no problems but he keeps it in the garage and usually only drives at night, not sure how well it holds up in heat though..
