I got on of those summit 5in tach it came with all the hardware, but i still cannot get the oil sending unit to go into the 302 block. I even went to local ford dealer and they sold me an oil sending unit for a 302. The problem is it starts to thread in and after about two threads it pops out of the block. Does anyone know the inside diameter I tried 1/2in and it still did not fit. Or could it be how the orginal hole was drilled? Or could it be a metric block?
Are you using one of these in the block? The sending unit threads into this piece. http://www.mustangsunlimited.com/itemdy01.asp?T1=9B339A+01&Category=&catkey=EMUSTANG
No not yet if another idea does not work. What size is the part that goes into the block. I bought alot of pipe bushings and fittings today would like to only buy one if possible.
The oil passage in the SBF is 1/8" npt. It is close to 3/8" outside diameter. If you are having a hard time with it try running an eighth inch pipe tap in first. (this info is for the US cars - I don't know whether the foreign Fords are the same)
Because it is a Summit 4 in 1 tach not 5in 1 the tach has an oil gague, volt meter, water temp all built inside. Summit part number sum-800104k. Hopefully that helps
A light at the end of the small tunnel got wrong fitting after all went to plumbing store got right one with extension and now I have an oil sending unit. Thanks for the help with the picture
