Well, I got tired of the sore thumb fender on the Maverick and after reading about the $98 paintjob, I decided maybe it wouldn't hurt. We are hoping to do it right, hopefully by the end of the summer, but I gave this a try till then. What we started with: A few cans of Rustolium and a bit of wet/dry sand paper later: I also got some "Bumper Black" and did the hood, grill and back pannel. The grill is damaged on the passenger side and this pretty well made that dissapear. The back: I'm hoping the fender will look good through the summer and I want to see how the bumper paint holds up in general. If it does ok long term, then I'll probably use it on the trim in the final treatment.
that fender looks pretty damn good, at least in that pic. is that an actuall color or did you mix something up? looks about the same as the hood.
The fender is Rustoleum straight from the can. It's not a perfect match, but it is not bad, even up close. It was a color, bronze or copper, that the hardware stores did not have, but Walmart did.
It actually looks better than the other fender that had been repaired and repainted professionally some time in the distant past. That paint didn't hold up to the Texas sun as well as the factory paint.
