Dave, I did a VW Bug that way about 3 years ago. Welded in some patch panels, glassed over it, then painted it with Eastwood rust encapsulater on top and then used spray on undercoating on the bottom. After three years, it still looks as good as the day I did it. I plan on doing my Maverick the same way. Only problem I can see doing it that way, and it happened on the Bug, is if water ever does get in there, it stays like in a bowl. I had left the windows down in the Bug and it rained in, and the water puddled in a low spot. Might present a problem with damp carpets if a leak wasn't fixed first, but no water can get to the steel!

I was thinking maybe glass on top and dry grease below...
Any vehicle I have ever had with an oil or tranny leak has never rusted. ;)

I wonder if a rubber drain tube glass'd into the 4 lowest spots wouldn't be a bad idea...

Well, i found the silver stuff rando told me about. It is located near the roofing supplies, and not near the water heaters or plumbing. It is really just bubblewrap with foil on both sides, and is pretty thin.

I got mine from Lowe's, so I bet you can get it at all the big name stores...

I got a roll, and will glue it down tomorrow, then jute on top glued down, and then carpet, haven't decided it I will glue it or not, depends on how it handles when installing it. I am afraid that three layers of "stuff" will try to move around or bunch up so I want to make sure it stays where i put it...

    Heres what I bought today...
It was $25 and only a 4 x 6 but I am sure it will work since the guys at the rod shop are using it in their builds.

The stuff Rando and I bought was $25 also, and was 24" X 25'. Plenty to do the entire floor with a bunch left over. It is really just bubble-wrap with aluminum on both sides, so I would guess that over time, those little bubbles will pop, as opposed to the insulation you have on your stuff...

Check out my other thread for installation updates...http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=33714

Hmm instructions are good: (I don't remember mine coming with instructions.. maybe I should have read the package before I tossed it. I've always seen it foil side up, which according to this, is backwards. )

    Ahh....ok
I was wondering about the "foil side down" instructions - since mine has foil on BOTH sides.
