At some point I am going to take out the 200, rebuild it and use it for another car. I have a 250 sitting that I want to put into the 1972 Maverick.Other than the front engine mounts, what else do I need to deal with in terms of hardware, parts, electrical and anything else?

the engine mounts are the same, the 250 will go in just like the 200 came out. biggest issue though is that the 250 uses a bell housing for a small block v8. so youll need a v8 bell. i think the fly wheel may be diffrent too.

    good luck

Yea, flywheel is different, same size as a 302, but 0 imbalance.

You will need a 250 specific flexplate, a torque converter to fit it, and a SBF bell housing. You will also need the shift linkage from a 250 Maverick if you are keeping the column shift. Other then that, it is a direct bolt in swap. The rubber and frame mounts are interchangeable between 200 and 250, so you will not have a problem there.

Thanks for the replies. I have the C4 tranny setup as it came with the engine. Is the current driveline the right length to do a direct swap?

yeah your driveshaft will be the right length since the trans its self sits in the same position

The tranny that came with that 250 will take up to 250 hp so it is ok as it is but I would put a TransGo #40-2 kit in it and mount a 15000 to 20000 lb capacity tranny cooler withit. That way you can enjoy the new combination for a long time to come.

Sorry for digging up an old post, but it sounds like you may have the answer I need. I may be going from a 250 to a 200. Do I need to find some of the parts from the 200 that you mentioned here? Thanks.
