Great idea but I can just see it now when I go to close my carbonfiber hood and forget to pull the pin. Have you ever seen a grown man cry. LOL The Mustang boys have a new billet hood hinge out that is really cool and highly adjustable, cost a lot also. Why dont one of you smart people out there make one up for a Mav
I saw that in M + F some time ago, I believe that Mustangs Plus sells them, and I think the Ring Brothers, in Spring Green WI, designed those, I cold be wrong on that last part, but as previously said, they are pricey.
cool but over time, i would think the grabber hood would start to bend, that type of hood isnt made to be "propless"
I've used these on two cars. The motion is not smooth and the adjustments were awkward at best. The strut rod caused binding in a couple of points during the motion. I just figured I was an idiot so asked for help from several professional body men. They also had the same observations. We now use standard hood hinges on those cars. The fancy billet hinges are just wall art.
Not when you have arms as long as mine. This would keep the hood from falling down off the prop rod when a gust of wind lifts it up.
It's simple. Hold the hood open with one hand, reach in with the other and wiggle the hood alittle and install the pins. Better yet, if you have a friend with you, have them insert the pins while you hold the hood. I use the lower position for shows. The spectators can see the engine and a portion of the top part of the hood. I use the wide open position when I'm working on the engine. I use the prop rod for quick checks. It would be better to have the quick release or locking pins as mentioned by Maverick1970. I have ran my engine while the hood is all the way up but I was always checking to make sure the pins were staying put. They never moved, but for saftey purposes I may get me some that will lock. Glad ya'll like it. It's nothing fancy but it works. Ken
Has any one tried shocks like these, to hold the hood? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Hatc...tsun-260Z_W0QQitemZ190085178861QQcmdZViewItem
