Here is one link but you can do a search on Bumper Conversion / Bumper Swap http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=11108
That is incorrect, the 73 bumper uses a different front valance, and you have to notch the fenders, And the mounts are different as well. There maybe more differences that I forgot to add here. And there is no need at all to change to the earlier bumper, the 73 front bumper looks just as good as the 70-72's (better to me) so my opinion is leave well enough alone.
I prefer the 73 style bumper. The only exception is, it sticks out to far. I sucked mine in. I think it looks alot better....
Wish you would've said something. I have a 72 Comet GT bumper with mounting brackets & valance. I could've shipped it with the car....Oh, well! Check with Craig. He probably has a few....
That's what I want to do with my 73 comet just move it back, I think that is a lot easier than to swap the fenders and valance on an original car.
I didnt even think about that, the pic you have looks GREAT. How did you do it? And wouldnt that cause some rust cutting slits in the fender?
I didn't have to cut any slits in the fenders. I just unbolted the bumper mounts from the frame. Took the filler panel out. Rebolted the bumper brackets back to the frame. I only have one bolt holding it to the frame now, cause I used the frame hole farthest back. The filler panel I used, is the metal one from a 72 Comet....
