Whats the best way to lower the rear? When the 302 goes in the front will lower a little, so I want to match that and lower the rear of the car. Whats the best way to do it?

I have a set of lowering blocks if they will work. Don't really know how much they lower though. I got them with the car & I'm old school (didn't want it lowered I needed it raised) . Maybe someone has a better way. GOOD LUCK!

I used lowering blocks. Seems to work fine and have had no issues with them. The CORRECT way would be to rearch the springs. But the last thing I wanted to do was to take it all apart AGAIN!

I've never used lowering blocks. How do they work? And what do you have to do to put them in?

They go between the spring and the axle housing. They are available at any of the supply shops. You can get anywhere from 1/2" to 4" drop although I would be carefull about going much more than 1". I was afraid that I might twist the blocks out under hard acceleration at the track but so far so good.

    Alright, interesting

If I wanted to get new springs to make it lower, where would I go to get them? Which ones would fit etc..

Lowering blocks are cool in smaller sizes.
Going much over an inch, and I would worry about pinion angle.
I suppose you could put a wedge under the block to correct the pinion.

I have no idea if you have to wedge the angle with flat springs or not.
    Seems like you might.

I would not lower the rear. I have never seen a Maverick/Comet that sat too high in the rear with stock springs and no air-shocks or shackles. If your car originally had a 250 inline "6", the springs are the same as 302 springs. If it's too high in the front, I'd cut a coil from the front springs. A slight "rake" looks good on these cars...

I changed my mind. I'm going to keep it the way it is. Thanks a lot though :thumbs2:

If you un-change your mind, 1" lowering blocks are available at AutoZone for under $20, and just slip between the spring and mounting perch. Might go ahead and spend another $10 and use heavier duty u-bolts, from the HELP section.
