I am restoring a 71 ford maverick grabber and am thinking about paint right now.. i was thikning a tungsten grey with black decal kit would be cool.. anyone seen one donne like this?? also as far as the bumpers go, i am only almost 15 so money is somewhat tight but i dont want to do it half you know what to save a couple bucks.. my front and rear bumpers need rechroming for sure, but i have no idea how much this would be and also i was thinking maybe it would look cool if the bumpers were done in a gloss black as well??? any ideas?? thanks alot and has anyone seen the inner door panel painted the same color as exterior?? mines black right now but i was thinking maybe it would be cool to that in a gunmetal / tungsten as well.. im talking about the part that isnt removable on the 71's that is part of the door.. thanks again
It would be interesting to see how it would look with painted bumpers.. Post a picture of the car and maybe someone can photoshop it for you Welcome to the forums
Welcome aboard. Some bumpers look okay painted. One of my cars has painted bumpers and it looks okay although I still like chrome better. Chrome can get expensive though. What part of Florida are you in?
Howdy and I like chrome myself but you can always paint them for now and chrome them later. Prices vary but average I'd say is around $175 each.
i'd say chrome too. if not body color just to blend it all together. i have a feeling the black wont look too good. maybe a lighter matalic grey might look good too but i'd have to see it photoshoped before comiting to anything. cant go wrong with chrome though good luck
I say go for painting it. scuff the chrome up pretty good, use some "bulldog adhesion promoter", and spray away. just remember, chrome don't get you home. save the money on the crhome and put it towards making power
My thinking is that if you do decide to paint, I think the lighter stripe color would look best. It would show a little more detail
wow thanks for all the replies guys.. ill try to get a picture up if i can... i was thinking chrome would look better as well but thought it was worth asking.. ill put a pic up tonight actually.. i have some pretty decent chrome wheels on it now 17's in the back im pretty sure and 16's in the front.. but 175 each, i guess that isnt to bad.. im pretty much finished with the engine, it is a 302 v8 but only thing im not happy with is that the previous owner had the block painted chevy orange.. so when i get the car painted im thinking about dropping the engine and redoing it blue.. but its looking pretty good as it is now.. btw i do know that it is a 302 i checked all the codes on the heads and on the intake.. and unless both of those fit on a chevy 350 or an ummm 305 is it?? im pretty sure its a ford 302.. like i said ill get a picture up tonight or maybe earlier if i can and we can see what we can do... i wish i had photoshop..
we got lucky and i already had one on photobucket.. reason for what could have been the delay was that i am not at my house
so if someone could photoshop it in like a tungsten / gunmetal silver grey look that would be great.. im looking for something with depth to it if that makes sense.. if that is achievable on it.. thanks
wow, seems like Mav/Comets are getting popular down here finally. Maybe someday more popular than Georgia.
i just wanted an old car to fix up, i figured it would be a good learning experience and a good way to spend extra time.. also a pretty awesome first car.. its also different though.. in my opinion cooler than the mustang because not many people at least kids that i know know about this car.. my dream car though is an dodge challenger r/t.. but this will have to do for now maverick is a sweet car though
hey its good to see another teenager rebuilding a maverick theres not many mavericks in texas that ive seen
