For all the 1970 Grabber Folks who need paint dimensions for their Hoods - Here`s a quick sketch with dimensions from my original paint Hood. I`m not sure how well this scan will post - so if it`s not readable , I will clean it up and try again. Click on it twice to enlarge. NOTE: No guarantees on correctness of drawing - you might want to compare to others who have an original paint car.
Thanks from a new owner. Thanks MtrHed. I purchased my first (1970, 250 six) Mav a couple of weeks ago and hope to restore but spruce it up a bit including the hood accent so your sketch will come in handy. Question to all: What are members thoughts about changing the original color of a car? I'm not too fond of the original "Fruedian Gilt" (yellow-orange color) color of mine. I realize it's now dull and might look better repainted. Will I devalue the car if I change the color or would a better color actually enhance the value?
These cars have no real value as compared to collector cars like Stangs, Camaros, Chevelles and mopars . Do what you like to it. We have yet to see values equal cost of restoration on these cars. That fact is true for most cars, if you are paying for a restoration, expect to lose money if you are selling. Buy them restored if you want to save money. Dan
I would say that painting it a different color could add or delete value. Paint it red, blue, etc......it could be worth more. Paint it puke green.....it could be worth less. It really all depends on who wants to buy it when you are ready to sell it and what they are willing to pay.
Craig is correct here. Restomod cars have been selling for as much or MORE that original cars the last few years and that's in all types of cars.
I wouldn't say that prices aren't good... I was looking at the blue book value of my car recently and I noticed that a 1971 Grabber with a 302 is now worth $14,000 mint... I got my Grabber in 2005 and it blue book price was only $10,000. I would say $4,000 in 2 years is a good jump!
Stuff goes missing after 13 years. If something is originally uploaded to the forum it stays. But 3rd party hosting sites go belly up or change their TOS - like photobucket did. Sometimes members quit and delete their content on the way out too. Mtrhed is still active here - maybe he still has it and can upload it again.
