My 77 Maverick is getting a face lift (new paint job), and my dad and I was wondering is there a clean way of removing the ford letters off of the trunk and hood?
If they're just held on by adhesive, heat it up with a hair dryer or something and take fishing wire and wedge the wire in between the letter and the metal and move the wire down to remove the letter
I'm pretty sure they are held on with tube nuts. The letters will just pull off. Then you have to pull the tube nuts out. Then you have to weld up the holes. Its worth the effort though.
All the FORD emblems on a 77' Maverick are pop-ons. You can slide a thin screwdriver or putty knife behind the letters and pry them off.
