i was wondering if anyone found out for sure if the 1974 maverick disc brake setup was actually based off of the pinto setup. i have the opprotunity to buy some parts from a '74 4door that has disc brakes but didnt know if it would be worth my time to pull them off or not. and if they are different, then what's the differences between the '74 and 75-77 years.....? anyone know the answer.. btw.. anyone need anything from a '74 4door 6cylinder car???
my uncle gave me all the parts off of his old 74 4 door maverick to switch mine over to 5 lug disk brakes.. now that schools started i might get to it next summer...
I know that the calipers are the same(Mustang II) .... as far as differences between the years they're all the same for the mavericks. Although I don't remember if its the Proportioning valves or Master cylinders are a little different but still interchangabl.e
according to partsamerica.com, which is Advance Auto Parts, the part numbers are the same from pinto, mustang II, maverick/comet & granada/monarch as shown: Cardone Unloaded Brake Caliper: RemanufacturedPart Number: 184069This product fits the following vehicles - click on a vehicle to see detailed engine information.FORD back to top1975 - 1980 GRANADA1974 - 1978 MUSTANG II1974 - 1977 MAVERICK1974 - 1980 PINTOLINCOLN back to top1977 - 1980 VERSAILLESMERCURY back to top1975 - 1980 BOBCAT1975 - 1980 MONARCH1974 - 1977 COMET
I don't think there is any difference. I had a 1974 with disc brakes from the factory....and they were identical to the 1976-1977 disc brakes. Just another Ford urban legend.
Well, was it an early 74 or a late 74? Was it built in the US or Canada? Was it built on a Monday or a Friday? What was the alignment of the planets? All these things seem to have an effect on how Ford did things back then.
That's impossible, Barry....You're too nice a guy to be another TL! By the way do you still have those Pinto seats?
