I am doing a major upgrade to my '70 Maverick, changing the interior color from blue to black. I've redone the seats with a nice black cloth/vinyl combination and I'm replacing the carpet, headliner, and dash pad in black. However, the door pads, dash, steering wheel and everything else in still in blue. I'd like to paint what I can (dash, doors, etc.) but I know a lot will prob have to be replaced. Any ideas, tips, warnings before I start diving into this project. Thanks in advance, Brad
The dash on black cars was actually Dark Charcoal Metallic. The doors are black. Clean well and the scuff before spraying very thin coats using Lacquer rattle can paint. Use SEM black on the dash pad and door panels. By SEM vinyl prep to clean them well before paint. I recommend you find a black steering wheel ... don't paint it.
Black? My '74 originally had charcoal metallic on the doors as well as the dash. I put it back that way. Seth
i used some of that duplicolor black vinal paint from the local pep boys. turned out alot better then expected, could probably pass it as original. i did the door panels and front bench with it.
