Soon to be picking up a 74 mav, that I found here locally. Got a great deal on it, since i didn;t want the drivertain he had in the car. Here are a couple pics of the car still at the tow yard. I'll be getting more after this weekend when we get it up on the rack. The big bumpers are coming off (of course) i'm thinking about a 331 mill for it. I already have a complete 5.0 block in the garage, just haven't figured out which way i'll go with it. Take a look guys and let me know what you think. The trim will be coming off as well in favor of the de-trimmed look. sorry if the pics are deemed ginormous.
Thanks guys, Yeah the bpdy is really straight, with the exception of a small dent in the passenger door, looks like an easy fix. I will have it home this weekend. and the picture taking will really begin. It had the Halo top on it, but it's thrashed now. i plan on restoring that as well
Thanks again for the welcome's. I can't wait to bring it home. Gonna be picking up my harness and ingnition for it in the next couple days. I need to start looking for small bumpers and brackets as well.
Okay.. well after some serious debating, number crunching, budget analyzing etc... I have decided to tone down my lofty powerplant goals for something a little easier and less time consuming to build. Im gonna go with a carbed 306 with afr heads. Im gonna run reworked stock heads for the time being, and pick up the afr's around Christmas/first of the year. I read and printed the 400hp car craft writeup based on a stock 5.0 302, and it was a no brainer for me. Quick, easy, cheap, all the names my wife calls me. I just don't wanna wait to drive the thing, I've been waiting too long just to get my hands on one. So this is the route im going to go. Any input, ideas etc.. please let me know. I decided against EFI for simplicity reasons. I know I might lose some MPG overall, but honestly I'm not concerned with that. Im picking up the overhaul gasket kit, pistons, etc.. pretty soon to start the rebuild process. Then onto the heads getting done, picking up headers etc.. I will do a B&M floor shifter in favor of the column shift, and mate that to a C4 or C6 tranny. I just can't wait to get behind the wheel.2thumbs:
Looks like a good solid car. Loose the bumpers and side trim, keep the LDO interior, and you have you a nice ride.
