I had my car painted about six months ago. It looks good but I do not think it was buffed out very good. I have some dull areas where it looks like it jus was not buffed completely. Can I just wax this out or does it need to be buffed again?
I wouldn't do anything to it myself. I would return it to whoever painted it. The clear could possibly be lifting. Seth
i would take it to another ...bodyshop..and ask them if they can BUFF it out? take their opinion and deside what would be the best to do..JMO ......
I'd take it to the guy that painted it, he knows what and how much paint is on it, and if he takes any pride in his work, he should take care of the problem.
Maybe they didn't lay down enough clear in those area. Or maybe they put down enough clear coat but either buffed it down to the base coat or didn't buff those areas well. I agree with everyone, take it back to them, have them take a look and they probably know what's up.
It is not that easy. I found a guy that worked in a body shop several years and was starting a mobile repair business. I worked out a deal with him. I think he did a pretty good job. he took it all the way to the metal and worked hard on it. He painted it in my garage. He was not real dependable untill he had a bunch of hour tied up in it then he got motivated to finish so I would pay him. I got tired of calling him and trying to track him down. I am now trying to decide how to proceed. I have a couple of areas that I messed up after he finished. for example I tried to glue the emblem on the trunk and it did not set right so I removed it and it pulled off the paint. Caution to anyone using that 3m emblem glue. It is strong stuff. I guess I will look for another professional to bail me out. I am happy with the paint job. I just need someone to fix my mistakes.
