    Well Ford's gone and screwed it up now with their new "boss", which is (power quantity and minor details aside) the same as any other 302, so now I guess everybody with a 302 DOES have a boss. :D

    i used to have a '88 lincoln town car. one day i had my friend holding the hood up for me since the prop shocks were dead. anyway the kid starts trippin out "Oh $h!t dude, this thing's got a 5.0 in it!?!" as he points to the emblem on the pleam.

    i just joined the midatlantic mustang/ford club and theres already a guy on there trying to tell me he used to have a 1976 boss 302 maverick.


    after i told him theres was never a such thing and running a few google searches he decided it was actually a 302 silver/black stallion

    Probably the same reason everyone with a 350 thinks it's a 4 bolt,LT1 and all olds motors are rockets and all big block mopars are magnums.:biglaugh:

    actually every olds motor usd to say rocket on it. it didnt mean anything special just some thing gm used to put on em. also lts peopl know the diffrnce between a rocket 350 and that other 350

    the real problem is peopl that think 442's were engines. 442 was just a special edition cutlass model, 4bbl carb, 4 sped trans and dual exhaust. had noting to do with displacment

    Actually, I think 442 stood for 4bbl, 400 series motor and dual exhaust. I know my dad bought a brand new one in 69, white with black stripes and black vinyl top 400 and a 3 speed.

    yea there were a few diffrent meanings for 442 throughout the run. i know the last 442 from the late 80's was a antomatic with a 307 and singl exhaust
