Hey guys, not trying to pry into other peoples business but what can I expect to pay for base coat clear coat paint job? I want all panels removed and painted. I know this is just ball park but just curious.
Depends how many cans you want to shake...LOL!Ok, now my smilies don't work! What tha?!!I am thinking that this could be open to what you want to pay. If I guessed I would say about $2k...
I paid $4k for my Grabber about 5 years ago ... they smoothed out any dings before painting. Car had no rust and I did all disassembly. All parts (doors, fenders, valances, etc) were painted separately. They hung the doors, fenders and hood before I picked it up. They currently have a 68 Mustang in the shop .. it is a solid car ... but had it's share of dings and dents as well. They are charging $6,000 to straighten and paint it. I pass by the shop everyday and stopped in the other day. They have the car in primer but they did not disassemble the entire car and paint piece by piece like they did mine.
Thanks, now i'm needing to plan on doin it myself. I wanted to do it myself, but thought I would find someone for $2k...maybe not huh? Are we talking door jambs, under hood, trunk? How about prep? Guess that kinda stuff would raise the cost... When you say paint, that's what I guessed $2k for, paint. I'm close to the paint stage but this info is good to know...
I just shelled out somewhere around $8000.00, but that was taking the car totally apart, stripping all the panels, epoxy primer, base/clear paint, wet sanding and buffing with very little body work. Overkill, maybe..but I'm happy.
Here's some pictures of my car getting transformed ... http://www.dmhines.com/Our_Website/1971_Grabber.html
If anyone ever wondered why my car has never been painted...This thread should clear it right up. Champaign dreams on a Kool-Aid budget.
its not gonna cost me alot of money to paint mine..prolly around 750..but im doing all body work, assembly, and paint myself. but im also not takin it apart and painting EVERY piece.
We charge between $5000 to $6000 for a base coat /clear coat paint job. That includes taking all the removable body panels off, stripping them down to the bare metal, prepping them, spraying the epoxy primer, blocking the primer, sealing the panels and the body, spraying the base coat, spraying the clear coat, reassembling all the panels, and wetsanding and buffing. That is just the cost of the paint job. Any needed bodywork is extra. It may sound like a lot of $$$$, but there is a lot of work and time involved in it. Material cost are also very expensive. Depending on what color you choose, just the cost of the paint alone can be expensive to the point of being scary.
