Can someone point me to some sample pics of painted engines...

I like the silver heads (I know those are most likely aluminum). I might paint mine grey or silver to match the intake...even though they are steel.

I bought the paint today, but went with the "Old Ford Blue" which is a little darker shade. I think I will paint the heads, harmonic balancer, timing cover, etc a silver/grey color just to offset the blues. And keep intake aluminum and valve covers chrome. Keeping close to Shineyside's look but with a tad darker blue.

 

Little note,,, dampner if black or my favorite dark blue, it's easier to see timing mark.

 

I was wondering about that. Figured I would put black marks on a silver dampner.

I could go white marks on a black one...should look good either way.

I was just thinking of keeping the blue/silver/blue/silver look all around. Everything I have that is black is also covered with grease, and you cannot tell it is greasy until you take it off or touch it. I wanted to be able to catch oil leaks earlier by having lighter colored engine parts.

Just a note "old ford blue" IS lighter than new ford blue.Just make sure you shake the can well or you will end up with a 2 tone blue engine.Ask me how i found that out!
