How difficult is it to remove? Is it welded anywhere, or are the bolts to the core support, shock tower and fender the only fasteners? I got a nice one I wanna swap into my Comet, no corrosion, Comet apron was destroyed by boiling battery...
The bolts actually hold on the coil spring cover. The apron is welded all the way to the top. I just removed the one on my Comet GT. THe bottom of the core support was also rusted out due to the battery.
Any thoughts on how one goes about removing one from a car in a yard? Mine is gone and I need a replacement but what's the best way to cut it out?
I used a ziz wheel, and cut it from the core support. When I fixed the apron, I drilled the holes in the core support and bolted it in, and bolted the brace to the new battery tray. That way, I can remove it if I need to, to treat rust, paint or whatever. So far, it has never loosened up or broken. Use 1/4X20 bolts and nuts. Hope this helps.
