Next time we get a front and the humidity drops below 90%, I will paint my engine. My question is...how to I get it clean and get all the oil out of the casting bumps? There is no paint on it, just clean oil from lubing the bearings and cylinders. Can I use GunScrubber or something like that to shoot the oil off and leave good adhesive surface? Or is it going to require elbow grease and lots of rags? Heads are not on yet. and I will probably paint those off the engine before I mount them down.
i used gasoiline and a paint brush to put it on and then scrubed it off with water and let it dry, but theres probably a better way
GunScrubber is pretty much the same thing. Almost like Acetone in a spry can. It dries really quickly and leaves no residue.
I have had good luck using the aircraft paint stripper that comes in the spray can as a degreaser. Works better then that "stuff" they call degreaser, actually.
Hmmm. I will look into that. Then, how do you get the paint stripper off? Isn't it a thick gel (only ones I have used were thick and gelatinous).
I couldn't help myself. All the select words lined up in a way I just HAD to say it. But if you really think about it, the best strippers have gelatinous parts, in all the correct places...
