i had the same exact problem, i replaced the starter switch located on the top of the steering column, inside the dash. you have to loosen up the steering column and drop it down as far as you can, its a tight fit, but easy enough job to do im sure you could always lube it up, i would guess that it is dry and sticking.. but buying a new one for 14 bucks is worth it since you have to drop the steering column anyways.. might as well only do it once.
In my situation the starter would get hung up with the fly wheel and stay lock up until all power was cut off by battery drainage or disconnected the batt. cables. Good thing I had an extra ignition switch in my orphan box where I keep my electrical gagits and cables. next time I go junking I will be on the look out for this item that seems to be a expendable item !!!
I think so. I sprayed some WD-40 in the keyhole on the column and it seems to work better now. I may need to work it some more. Thanks for all the help guys
Actually mine was the same way once. I took the tumbler out and sprayed that stuff on it and it's worked since. I just wish I could start using it again ...soo tho There not hard to take out to get the spray on it mo betta, mine pulls straight out, with a little effort.
