    You simply need a patch panel for that one. It's definitely easier to fix if the fender was taken off the car too. I hate welding on the bottom of a car. Anyway, you simply cut a section of the lower fender off (as small as possible) making sure all of the rust is gone. Use the portion you cut out as a pattern to make a patch out of some good clean sheetmetal. It's really an easy patch to make. There is a brace behind the rusted out area that may need some attention also but is probably repairable. Any decent body man should be able to help you make this repair.
    I also recommend welding the molding holes up. The patch may work okay and never cause a problem but I would hate to find out a year or two after I put a nice paint job on my car.

    i have no prob having the fender off when its being fixed but everyone i know believes there just going to burn a bigger hole in it

    ive been welding for 3 years and yes you can turn the MIG welder down enough to weld that.. i have welded thinner, like sheet metal, with a MIG.. you can also use oxy-acetylene to weld very thin metal...

    second shift at corona. wow, that's either going to be a big welding party or a couple of big drinkers. gene, take the drive and head for dennis's place. you'll really be impressed. it's great to meet the people on this board. there even nicer in person. i'd advise anyone on here to go to the roundup or the gathering and see firsthand what kind of people are on here.:thumbs2:oh, and i had all the trim removed on my grabber. welded shut and ground down. you can see this by clicking on the camera icon.

    low heat fast wire, get some trash to practice on. use gas for sure. gravy job really. patch panels no harder, just more time consuming. if i was closer i woulda been there fixed it all, drank all your beer, ate all your food, and left .:dance:
