    Ok,
So my question is has anyone bought a hood scoop from JC. Whitney? I need to get one for the Mrs' car because the aftermarket aircleaner sticks out of the big hole I cut in the hood and w/the weather in WA. it ain't gonna be a pretty sight after too long. Am looking at this one( http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/...-10101/Ntk-AllTextSearchGroup?Ntt=hood+scoops ) and wondering if anyone has any diff suggestions. Looked into having a sheet metal one fabbed and found it was a little spendier than this. There's a pic of the car as she sits now under the thread titled "Ok, so I caved in"

the one on my car is like a scaled down 429 where it doesnt stick up as high and fits the overall shape and size of the car a little better IMO i can fit a 13'' aircleaner in it too

looks alot like the comet GT style and size but not an exact replica.

    heres a 429

Honestly, doesn't look like the scoop on yours would clear my air cleaner . That boss scoop looks right mean and would be funny considering am running a 250

A no name aftermarket one. The issue isn't w/the aircleaner but w/the 1bbl carb that I just put on. Got a rebuilt holly and w/ the aircleaner and spacer it sets it just above the hood..you can see it in the pics on my other post. Matter of fact, your car looks almost identical to the one I am picking up cept the hood. Getting a black 70' in a few weeks

well im happy that im able to pass mine off as a '70 :) definatly a compliment

you also have to keep in mind how far offset the 1bbl is to the passengerside of the engine bay. if you got a wide aircleaner and plan on having the scoop centered in the hood you going to need over 14'' od width. like i said mine gives me a 13'' diameter and it was just enough to use a little tiny spectre 3'' aircleaner on th original 1bbl

According to the catalog the width on the boss scoop is 25" so I don't think there will be too big an issue centering it.

haha yea that will look cool.

believe it or not with my stock 1bbl and an open aircleaner sitting in the hood scoop it would accelerate a little harder. so you do have some performance potential to gain.

and if you ever go 2bbl you;; have the room for the added hight and an aircleaner for that too

It might make your life easier to look for a bolt on scoop.
The one you link to is a bond on type.
Not all styles are available bolt on, but the B429 is commonly sold as bolt on.
That way you just lay out your holes, drill and put the nuts on.

I love the Boss 429 scoop. But on a car that is pushing serious horsepower! After looking at this picture, I dont think the Boss 429 scoop is even big enough to cover that air cleaner. I wouldn't know where to begin. Save your Modding money for the 70 with a v8.
