Can I quote myself to add pictures? Got my baby home tonight!... right before the snow hits us again. And OH MY GOD this car is amazing. 35 years old and not one fleck off any of the chrome, engine is spotless and looks new, the interior looks new besides a few tears in the bench... the CHROME on the lighter looks brand new - and yes, it works! There's no radio but the lighter works. Go figure. The ODO says 39,000 miles, the transfer paper said 39,000 - the lady who owned it thought it was a mistake and should be 139,000 miles... now that I've looked the car over I think it just might be 39K...!!! Since I'm new here I don't know how the gallery's work yet... but we *all* love pics... and I am TOTALLY SHOCKED by this car so far... first I'll try and add the pics... here's a few pics to start... I guess I'll have a "project page" eventually... It's an orange 72 Comet - actually, it's red but the paint is faded to orange... black interior, 6 cyl, automatic, and it drives like a truck (standard steering and standard brakes). No radio, no glove box, no rear defrost... I never had so much fun driving home - big grin all the way... couldn't see out the windows or read the dash because the lights are so dim... and the lady's son who drove it put a glasspack in it so it sounds great! (Wait till I dump that V8 in there). These pics are nighttime flash so you can't tell but I was shocked to open the hood and see a dusty but greaseless Ford blue engine with a Ford blue fan (no rust on it), black shiny airbox, rad, braces, mounts, etc. are all clean, black, and don't have any rust on them. The engine looks brand new and besides a sticky choke runs great. Chrome and coating inside the bumpers is not flecked anywhere... that floored me so I examined all the bezel and trim screws and they look new. No pitting, no rust. As for the body - rusted rear right trunk and quarter - the usual 30 year old car in Canada. All the wheel wells are totally solid. Now I have to wait for our winter weather to pass so I can clean and polish this baby up.... Ciao! Whisky ps... sorry if I'm ranting and posting pics in the wrong area... I'm just excited to find such a clean project car. Anybody got a spare V8?
Wow!..another Canadian!...just what we need! Welcome to the board...tons of good info on here! I'm the B.C rep and live over on the Island..if you ever need advice or help with finding parts let me know! There is a Javelin(early '70) in Courtenay for sale...not sure of the price though...and I know another(a '68SST with a 360 and 4-speed) that may be for sale.
Thanks!... but I gave up on the dream of a Javelin because I couldn't afford one - but now I'm tickled pink with this little Comet I found. After I sell my other cars - this summer - I may hunt for a Javelin again. That 360 4-spd sounds awesome though.... *sigh* It'll have to wait... Next week I'm going to visit my parents in Parksville on the Island then in January start working on my little Merc. I *LOVE* going to the island because everyone takes such great care of the old cars. Great place to cruise!
I'm not to far from Parksville...we could grab a coffee or something at the A&W or Smittys...let me know
Sweet car ... always like to see another Comet. (Mavs are great too!) If you think prices on Javs are high, just wait until you start trying to buy even the most basic parts. One of my best friends has been messing with them for over 30 years and it is pure sickness ... just shy of Mopar insanity.
Welcome to the board. I have a 1973 Javelin body, no motor transmission or interior that I was going to build a drag car out off. The body is fair. I would sell for $200
Wow... I'd take you up on that but I don't have a garage - and already have 3 vehicles... well, thanks anyway... my Comet is my new project... need to sell my little Honda race car before my girlfriend would even think of letting me get another one... Ciao! Whisky
Welcome!!,Good looking Comet you have there.Hard to find these cars in good condition here in Canada.
*WOW*... awesome burnout(s) dude... either you've got the hardest set of tires I've ever seen... or those Ontario back roads are made of plastic... couldn't believe how long you sat there before launching it (is that a STICK?...) great video... and I love the throaty sound... reminds me of my Buick 455 and the 120ft burnout (it was a fast shutter camera... before the days of video... left my buddy with tar in his teeth from the grinning). and thanks... I gave my new baby a thorough polish today and I am tickled pink at the condition it's in... I keep giggling and shaking my head - besides the obvious rust spots all the chrome is intact... I waxed the fan blades because they look so new (I have never waxed fan blades before... it was novel to say the least...). I come from Ontario so I know all about road salt and corrosion... but mine only seems to need a rear quarter.

Happy New Year everyone!... Well, holidays are over and FINALLY I can get back to cruising this forum and working on my car... I think I'm replying to myself again... but I'm still kinda new here and now have a few more pics and questions... not sure where else to put em yet (since this is such a huge site and great articles & messages and awesome pictures). Unbelievable amount of pictures here... from bone stock to resto-mod... there are oodles and oodles of ideas here to get me started on my new baby... first problem is specs... I haven't been able to find a manual or much technical info on-line... Anybody got tune-up specs for an I6 and some details on the Comet's power, weight, original tire sizes, etc.... Mine is a 72 Comet 6 cyl/auto/2 door... was ORANGE when I got it... now the cut polish is making it RED again... hah. Apparently medium Coral looks more orange anyhow... I guess I should stop buffing when I see bare metal... Ciao! Whisky
Hey whisky, I just looked at the pics you have loaded. Nice...mostly I get a red X but I see what you have. Is the striping factory? Doesn't look like it to me but there could be some out there like that I suppose. Recently there has been a discussion about a Comet Stabber, so that makes me curious.
